
Presentation on Gyalsung Programme
The Hon’ble Chairperson, Members, and
secretariat staff attended a presentation on Gyalsung today.
Dasho Karma Tshiteem, Chairman of the
National Service Core Working Group (NSCWG) presented a comprehensive overview
of the Gyalsung Programme, covering its objectives, training dates and
post-programme engagement.
The establishment of Gyalsung was
announced during the Royal Address on the 112th National Day on December 17,
2019. The Gyalsung Act was subsequently enacted during the winter session in
2022.
Dasho Karma said the Gyalsung programme
will be launched on September 5, 2024,
aiming to provide a platform for Bhutanese youth to contribute to
nation-building, enhance national security, and empower the younger generation.
All 12,931 eligible youth who were born
in 2005 have registered with Gyalsung Headquarters.
Following the presentation, Members
sought clarification on various Gyalsung provisions, deferment, and the
Gyalsung Tribunal.
Hon’ble Dorji Wangmo, Kengkhar Weringla
from constituency, also attended the session.
