Courtesy Call by Regional Director for Asia and Pacific at the International IDEA (Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance) to His Excellency Chairperson of National Council
His Excellency, the Hon’ble
Chairperson extended a warm welcome to Ms. Lenna Rikkila Tamang, Regional
Director and conveyed his appreciation for the support rendered to Parliament
under Project Nyamdrel by IDEA.
Conversing briefly on the
National Council elections, the Hon'ble Chairperson said that the Third
National Council tenure will end on 9th May and the newly elected Members will
join office on 10th May 2023.
The Chairperson said that under
this project, the workshops for the Members of Parliament and secretariat
staff, as well as the transformation of E-Parliament system and development of
strategy document were positive outcomes of the collaboration.
The Regional Director also
expressed her appreciation and said that a few activities are still ongoing
under Project Nyamdrel and will be completed by the end of the year.
Later in the afternoon, H.E the
Chairperson attended the Joint Launch Event on “Parliament and Civil Society
Organization Collaboration Strategy Document”, which was also attended by the
H.E Speaker of National Assembly, the delegation from the European Union led by
Ms. Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director of the Department for Asia and
Pacific of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Ms. Leena Rikkila
Tamang, Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, International IDEA and
representatives from civil society organizations.
