The Chairperson conducts an Advocacy programme on the roles of National Council

The Chairperson of the National Council of Bhutan conducted an advocacy program on the role of NC in balancing the political equation to the officials of the Ministry of Work and Human Settlement earlier today.

Many such programmes were conducted in schools and colleges to educate on the uniqueness of the Bhutanese democracy and to clarify on the common misnomers in the society about the parliament.

Among many, the presentation covered on topics such as, formation of the Parliament, variant functions of the two houses, rationale behind 5 eminent members of the NC, and primarily focused on the characteristic, mandates and the continuity of the NC.

The Chairperson underscored the importance of maintaining apolitical nature of the NC. Apart from legislating laws he stressed that the NC undertakes review of laws and policies passed by the government.

The programme concluded with an extensive question and answer session.
