
Legislative Committee Engages with the Senior Lawyers on the Amendment of the Penal Code of Bhutan 2004.

March 11, 2025, the Legislative Committee (LC) held its first stakeholder
meeting with private lawyers to discuss amendments of the Penal Code of Bhutan
2004. The committee was assigned this task during the strategic coordination
meeting in Paro.
The consultations aim to gather valuable insights from legal professionals, which will contribute to the development of a more effective and equitable criminal justice system that aligns with Bhutan's evolving legal landscape. The committee is committed to engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive review process.
The full findings from these consultations will be compiled and presented during the upcoming summer session, marking an important step towards enhancing the legal framework and addressing contemporary challenges within the justice system.
